UGAANA Donates to the Council of Ghana Associations (COGA)

UGAANA representatives with members of COGA during the donation presentation at the end-of-year cookout.

The University of Ghana Alumni Association of North America (UGAANA) has donated several cases of bottled water to the Council of Ghana Associations (COGA) in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area during their end-of-year cookout event.

This gesture forms part of UGAANA’s community outreach program, which seeks to build partnerships with organizations that share a commitment to giving back to Ghanaian communities. Through such collaborations, UGAANA continues to promote education, leadership, and social development—particularly by supporting needy but brilliant students of the University of Ghana through its scholarship program.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Kwabena Annor-Ampofo, President of UGAANA, reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting educational advancement in Ghana. He emphasized that partnerships like this not only strengthen ties among Ghanaian organizations in the diaspora but also help mobilize resources to sustain UGAANA’s scholarship initiatives.

Representing UGAANA at the event were Ms. Hannah Gyasi Adonteng, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees; Mr. Anthony Koomson, Vice President of Operations; Mr. Tony Kumi, Financial Secretary; Ms. Divine Clottey, Member of the Board of Trustees; and Dr. Ras Acolatse, Member of the Scholarship Committee.

UGAANA remains dedicated to fostering collaboration among Ghanaian associations in North America and beyond, in pursuit of its mission to advance education and social impact in Ghana.

UGAANA Laptop Donation

UGAANA, as part of its commitment to supporting UG to empower students with computer technology skills to facilitate their learning and readiness in the labor market of the 21st century, has donated 20 laptops to the Alma Mater.

The presentation was done on behalf of UGAANA by Dr. Akwasi A. Ampofo and Nii Ashitey.

UGAANA's gesture was a dutiful response to UG's ‘One Student One Laptop Initiative,’ and realized through contributions from UGAANA members.

UG’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, appreciated the association's generosity which would boost the Almer Malta’s ‘ongoing digitalization projects aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning experience at UG.’

The UGAANA Executive body sincerely thanks all members who contributed o the purchase of the computers, and the former Executive leadership who initiated the project.

It is hopeful that all members who pledged contributions for the laptops would kindly fulfill their commitments to help make additional donations to support UG’s students.
